What is WIC?

WIC is the Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program which serves low income families. WIC is a nutrition program that helps mothers and young children eat well and stay healthy. Through the WIC program you will receive "WIC Checks", Nutrition, Breastfeeding Information and Referrals.

 

What happens at WIC appointments?

At your first appointment and as needed, we will check to see if you or your child is eligible for WIC.

We will ask:

  • You to bring your infant or child to the WIC office.
  • You to show us personal ID.
  • For the medical referral form filled out by your doctor*.
  • For proof of your income*.
  • For proof of your address*.

*Referral, proof of income, and proof of address extensions granted by a case by case analysis.

 

How long can I stay on WIC?

For Women:

  • If breastfeeding, until one year after your baby is born.
  • If not breastfeeding, until six months after your baby is born.

For Infants and Children:

  • Through the month your child reaches his or her fifth birthday.
